The Perfect 7-Day Croatia Itinerary
Croatia's coast is long, so a focused route beats trying to see everything. This week concentrates on southern Dalmatia, the most scenic stretch, with a mix of cities, islands and nature.
Days 1–2: Dubrovnik
Start in Dubrovnik. Walk the city walls early on day one, then explore the Old Town's side streets and take the cable car up Mount Srđ for sunset. On day two, swim at Lokrum island or take a sea-kayak tour beneath the walls.
Day 3: Travel to Hvar
Take a catamaran north to Hvar. Spend the afternoon on the Pakleni Islands and the evening enjoying Hvar town's restaurants and harbour buzz.
Day 4: Hvar at a slower pace
Rent a scooter and explore the island's interior — lavender fields, Stari Grad and quiet coves. This is the day to do very little except swim and eat well.
Day 5: Split
Ferry to Split and dive into Diocletian's Palace. Wander the Riva at dusk and climb Marjan hill for views over the rooftops and islands.
Day 6: Day trip from Split
Choose between the waterfalls of Krka National Park (where you can swim near some falls) or the island of Brač and its famous Zlatni Rat beach.
Day 7: Slow morning and departure
Use your final morning for a last swim or a market stroll before flying out of Split's well-connected airport.
Tips to make it smooth
Book catamarans and ferries in advance during summer, travel with a carry-on to make island hops painless, and build in unstructured time — the coast rewards lingering.
