About AdriaForum

AdriaForum is an independent travel magazine dedicated to helping curious travelers plan better trips. We publish destination guides, practical travel tips, ready-to-use itineraries, food and culture features, and budget travel advice.

Our mission

Travel information online is often thin, repetitive or written purely to rank in search engines. We aim for the opposite: clear, useful, first-hand-style writing that respects your time and helps you make real decisions — where to go, when to go, what it costs and what to skip.

How we work

Every article is written by a named member of our editorial team with genuine experience in the region or topic. We research each destination, cross-check practical details such as transport and seasonality, and update guides as things change. We focus on the Adriatic and Mediterranean regions, with a growing library of guides further afield.

Advertising

AdriaForum is supported by advertising. Ads are clearly labeled and never influence our editorial recommendations. If you have feedback about an ad or our content, please reach out through our contact page.

Meet our writers

Our guides are written by travelers who know their patch. Here's the team behind AdriaForum.

Maja Kovač

Maja Kovač

Destinations writer · Split, Croatia

Dalmatia native who has spent 10+ years exploring Croatia's coast, islands and old towns.

Maja grew up in Split and has been writing about the Dalmatian coast for over a decade. She spends her summers island-hopping by ferry and her winters tracking down the konobas and viewpoints the tour buses miss. She covers our destination guides for Croatia and the wider Adriatic.

Ivan Babić

Ivan Babić

Itineraries & national parks · Zagreb, Croatia

Croatia road-trip and national-parks specialist; has driven and hiked the country end to end.

Ivan plans the routes. A lifelong hiker based in Zagreb, he has walked the boardwalks of Plitvice and Krka in every season and mapped out countless Croatia and Balkans road trips for friends before turning it into a job. He writes our itineraries and national-park guides.

Elena Ross

Elena Ross

Solo & smart travel · Lisbon, Portugal

Full-time traveler across 40+ countries, carry-on-only for years; focuses on solo travel and safety.

Elena has travelled to more than 40 countries, almost always with a single carry-on. She writes our practical travel-tips pieces — packing, staying safe as a solo traveller, and the small habits that make trips smoother. She's currently based in Lisbon between trips.

Sofia Marino

Sofia Marino

Food & culture writer · Naples, Italy

Italian food-and-culture writer covering markets, coffee culture and Mediterranean cuisine.

Sofia is a Naples-based food writer who believes the fastest way to understand a place is through its market and its coffee bar. She covers food and culture across Italy and the Mediterranean for AdriaForum, from black risotto on the Croatian coast to the unwritten rules of ordering an espresso.

Tom Whitfield

Tom Whitfield

Budget travel & flights · Manchester, UK

Budget-travel and airfare specialist who has road-tested the deal tools and fare tactics he writes about.

Tom is obsessed with making travel cheaper. He's spent years testing fare-alert tools, overnight trains and $50-a-day budgets across Europe, and writes our budget-travel and flights coverage. If there's a way to do a trip for less, he's probably tried it.
